Jonas at 4 years

Jonas is really a one-of-a-kind kid. He wakes up each morning and starts talking and doesn't stop until he's asleep again. He also makes sure he's talking loudly, should anyone not be able to hear what he has to say. I like to say he uses 250 words to explain something someone else would say in 25 words.

He still seems pretty little in size which may have to do with him not wanting to eat dinner most nights. He LOVES to cuddle/snuggle/touch people. He is constantly touching Levi or someone else, but he's just drawn to physical contact. He enjoys playing battle/wrestle games with Camden and baby/animal games with Savannah.

We had behavior issues with him during the first half of the year but we were dealing with a new sibling/pandemic/moving/being 3...so I have to give him some grace. He's doing much better now. But he isn't afraid to have an epic meltdown in public. He is quick to say he's sorry and has empathetic feelings.

An example of Jonas' personality: For photos, he decided he'd agree to a "fancy" shirt but no "churchy" pants. He chose a short sleeve polo shirt with a "lobster with a suitcase (?)". He also thought it would be best if he wore pink swimming goggles because they "make my eyes look good". I was able to convince him to take them off after a few photos. He also said as we left that his feet were so sweaty they were like "wet dinner rolls".

We've been doing "school" each morning for a few minutes which I've really enjoyed. While he's still not getting his letters completely, he seems to have a greater vocabulary and grasp of concepts and ideas than I'd expect.

sleeping: he goes to bed around 8pm and is up around 6:30am. He has a rest time from about 1-2:30 and sleeps sometimes. He gets up from nap to poop and pee a couple times. He's always been a pretty good sleeper.

eating: he always says he "wants something sweet". When I asked what he wanted for his birthday to eat he said cinnamon rolls. I said ok but what about for dinner to which he said "also cinnamon rolls". He is always looking for a treat. He is picky about dinner and often leaves the table and doesn't eat much.

social: Jonas hasn't had much opportunity to interact with other kids this year, which is sad. I'm glad he has siblings (both older and younger) to play with sometimes. I'm hoping the second half of this year is more fun for him as he will hopefully be going to preschool in the fall. Luckily there are usually kids playing outside on nice days behind our house and he'll join them.

working on: keeping his hands to himself, listening the first time, and not talking so loud (or so much). Working on letter recognition and letter sounds. He is also our only kid who had a paci after three years old. He loves his paci and we didn't take it away at three since Levi was born and he was needing some extra comfort. Then the rest of the year was crazy so we didn't push it. He only uses it during is 1.5hr nap and some many days he doesn't even use it at all. It's definitely something we'll have to say good bye to soon.

dislikes: dinner foods, being quiet, playing alone

likes: candy and sweets, snuggling, reading books, puzzles, watching Daddy play Zelda, shows, gems, collecting things, his red panda stuffy, the bounce house, wrestling games
