I debated about whether or not we should go anywhere for Jonas' birthday, and ended up deciding we could venture out. We used points and booked a hotel in Newport, Kentucky and got tickets to the Newport Aquarium there.
The kids were excited to go to a hotel for sure! We did struggle with the littles on the 2 hour drive...so we are going to need to get better at car rides if we are going to go anywhere this summer! We ate our dinner in the hotel room and then the kids ran the hallways. Levi was pretty shocked by the glass elevator. The hotel normally gives out free snacks and drinks in the evening, but for safety reasons we got sprite/beer to go. Breakfast in the morning was also to go style, which was nice. The hotel was very empty which was a bit sad but we felt pretty safe.
I think our kids running up and down hotel hallways will be something I always remember when we travel. It's something they all love!
First thing in the morning, we headed to the aquarium and spent a couple hours looking at the fish. Luckily (I think because we were the first ones there) the aquarium was not crowded and we were able to enjoy the exhibits. Our favorite things were the various tunnels and shark exhibits. They also have a net that you walk through over the shark tank that was neat. We headed home after the aquarium.
