I had been hoping to get Jonas in the Early Childhood program through the Carmel School district as a "peer friend". The program is for preschool aged children in Carmel who qualify for special education/therapies. Jonas would attend as a typically-developing peer. Even though I applied back in the late winter and he had completed a virtual interview, Covid restrictions caused issues and he wasn't accepted until a week before school started! Even then, it was under a "trail" basis until they could confirm he was a good fit. Jonas can be pretty...spunky?...so I wasn't sure how he'd be in school but his teacher called and said he is a great peer friend and can join the class. Woo hoo! I'm already liking the teacher/student ratio (sounds like it is 3 teachers to 7 students with special therapists coming in, too. Often times he tells me there are only 4 kids present in class). I also get photos everyday of what he is doing which I really enjoy. After only attending about 10 days of 2's preschool and no 3's preschool, I'm excited for Jonas to go Monday through Friday for about two hours. I hope he has a great year!
