3 home projects

We always schedule home makeover projects for January-March when we're around more. This year's projects were pretty simple.

1. We turned the old toy kitchen play room area into an exercise room. Will we use it? Maybe! We had this old elliptical that needed a home and were gifted a bike! We had to take the bike completely apart to fix the bluetooth element (I would NOT recommend) but now it works and the room is functional!

made it this far, can't go back

2. I wanted to take the TV off the fireplace wall to move it where it would be less of an eye sore and at a more functional height and location. I painted the wall and added a little MDF molding to make the fireplace wall nicer.

Forgot to do a "before" but I found this:

3. The kids bathroom needed updating. We replaced the toilet which wasn't wasn't working well and the faucets which were broken, also. The shower also broke during the winter so it was replaced, too. I framed the mirror, spaced out the towel hooks, and added new decor. We tried to use things we already had and just repurposed them.

powder room remodel

Our main floor powder room was fine, but heavily used and the vanity was needing replaced (the sink basin actually broke a couple weeks before the project was to start). Then I noticed the toilet bowl was cracked so the project got expedited and become more of a gut job.

I painted the top portion of the room a blue color and I had already purchased for a wall in the master bedroom. For the bottom, we decided to try wainscoting to match the foyer. It was easier to install than I expected but the painting/caulking was harder to get right.

We installed a new vanity, light, sink, hardware, toilet and decorations.

This was my only "before" picture. I took it from the house listing when we bought it. The sellers actually took the gold fixtures and replaced it with something else.

Christmas celebrations

This year the gifts seemed very plentiful! The kids came into our room right at 7am (the earliest time allowed). We opened gifts, ate cinnamon rolls and breakfast casserole, and enjoyed playing with new toys. Chris was taking appointments for assistance with putting together/adding batteries/playing games/etc. We celebrated later with our extended families, too. A great, relaxing day.

Main gifts this year:

Camden - my old apple watch (new bands/phone number), football cards

Savannah - baby doll, stuffies, Camden's old Gizmo watch (new bands)

Jonas - a rock tumbling kit w/refills, Kirby switch game

Levi - an indoor bumper car, vehicles

kitties - a cat tree

Chris - a switch game

Stephanie - an Aerogarden for indoor herbs

We also had Christmas with the Eakman family at our house and the Miskowiec family a few days later.

cookies, milk, carrots, a gift, and instructions on where to put the gifts

Summertime

Summertime. Long, hot days. Lots of fun activities.

Camden's new school hosted a animal show at a park. Since he was over ten, he got to help put the giant python back in the box.

We finally went to the Waterpark at the Monon Center. It was a lot of fun.

Inlow splash pad finally reopened after being closed all last year. Yay!

I found a free powerwheel (had to replace two tires). Levi loves it.

plenty of pool time in our neighborhood

Camden attended a week-long Police Academy put on by the police department. He learned to march and taught the family.
