Check out my "25 years, 25 tasks" post to see the 25 things I want to accomplish this year!
When Chris and I planned our night in Gettysburg, I really wanted to stay in an old bed and breakfast. There are several nice ones in the town of Gettysburg and I chose the Gettystown Inn at the historic Dobbin House Tavern. It was built in 1776, so it has a lot of history behind it. It was the home to a family with nineteen kids (yikes!), a school, and even a place for runaway slaves to seek refuge on the Underground Railroad. It is located across the street fromGettysburg National Cemetary and one could have seen Abraham Lincoln give the Gettysburg Address from the top floor.
With all of this history behind it, there are a fair share of ghost stories and sightings reported from the Dobbin House. In fact, some of the local ghost tours stop by the Dobbin house as part of their search for the restless spirits.
Now, I often can't sleep after watching a scary movie and I tend to let my imagination run wild when I hear an unusual noise, so I thought I'd really be facing my fears by staying at a haunted hotel. It didn't turn out to be all that frightening, but it was a really interesting place to stay and I'm glad we ventured away from the usual hotel.
Our old-fashioned room
Either Chris is really tall or the doorway is really short
Why do we need so many locks? To keep ghosts out maybe?
From the street
I could see this window from our bathroom window...why is there a creepy negative photo in the window?!?
mmmm breakfast
Gettysburg National Cemetery right across the street
