Salem, Massachusetts

I dropped Chris off at his work today and headed to Salem, Massachusetts to explore. Salem is famous for the Witch Trials in 1692 and home to many modern-day witches (the Wicca religion).

I started my tour of the city at the Burying Point Cemetery.

Next to the cemetery, is the Witch Trials Memorial. Each person killed in the 1692 executions has a memorial stone in the memorial area.

I walked down to the wharf where I walked a half-mile out to the Derby Wharf Lighthouse.

Down the road, was The House of the Seven Gables, the inspiration for Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel.

I realized that I didn't know much about the Salem Witch Trials and wanted a little amusement, so I visited the Salem Witch Museum. I did learn more about the trials and about witches today...very interesting!
