Out with the old, in with the...less old

Chris has been driving the same 2000 Honda Accord since our college days.  We were planning to keep it until we built up our emergency fund and then saved to pay cash for a replacement.  I think we were expecting too much from a car with 193,000 miles on it.  After a bit of a rough winter (understatement), the Accord finally reached the point where the repair costs were almost as much as it was worth.  We buckled down and bought another Accord (a 2003) with our saved up cash.  Even thought it is 11 years old, it seems so new and fancy!  I guess we are easily impressed : )

Now we're considering selling my Honda Pilot (which has been a wonderful vehicle) and buying a minivan while we still have the extra old car to drive in the interim between selling the Pilot and buying the van.  I know buying a minivan takes us from being "possibly-still-a-tiny-bit-cool" to "not-the-slightest-bit-cool"...but I think I crossed that line when my definition of "dressing up" included wearing any clothing item that doesn't have "sweat" in the name.  We'll see what happens!

I personally think minivans are super cool and cannot wait for the day I can own one myself! Just think of it as a party van.

Woo! All Chris needs to do is upgrade to an IU plate and he'll be set! VW used to make some pretty sweet minivans... :)
