After over a year and a half of no "real" vacations, we were all pumped to head to Florida for two weeks! Since I'm a bit cheap and couldn't find a flight price to Florida that I liked, we decided to drive. This also allowed us to avoid the rental car shortage issue and be able to bring a lot of stuff (I'm an overpacker for sure). However, this meant a long drive for us! To split up the drive, we stopped over in Atlanta for 2 nights so we could check out the Georgia Aquarium and a park.
After a pretty good, but long, 10 hour drive (no meltdowns and only one vomit!) we checked into our hotel. I just booked a hotel that had a separate bedroom, but the check in process was not smooth and the room was pretty cramped. It turned out ok, though, since the man running the counter ended up giving us all our Marriott points back...so we stayed for free!
The Georgia Aquarium was pretty awesome. The highlight is a huge tank (with 2 foot thick glass) that houses fish, manta rays, sea turtles, and three giant whale sharks. The observation area was really neat.
That afternoon we walked around Piedmont Park and played on the playground. Levi enjoyed driving the "wee oooh" there.
