2020 Elections

For election day this year, we held our own home election. Chris and I ran against each other to be president on the following day. At the last minute, Camden requested a campaign sign and wanted to run against us. He brought some friends to our 30 second speeches where we each said what we'd do if we were president on Wednesday. Then everyone (including the friends) got in line and voted for president and what dinner we'd have that night. The lines at our poll site was about one minute, pretty good! Camden won, of course (along with Everything Grilled Cheese). When the kids later discovered no one voted for me (I was even going to make pancakes!) they felt really bad. Camden said he would sit out any future races. All I know is Camden has some big campaign promises to fulfill!

Over the next couple days the kids (mostly Camden) wanted to watch election coverage. He's really into statistics and tracking wins/losses. I had them work on their own red/blue map of the US and had Camden add in the electoral votes in each state.

Jonas went in another direction with his map apparently indicating natural disasters (all I remember from his explanation is that green = tornados, black = lava, and orange = fine).

Camden would check the news each morning and evening for updates and color in his map accordingly. After Biden won, he went back and made a whole new map, fixing a couple of colors he messed up.
