Grandpa's funeral

My Grandpa died at the beginning of this year so we all drove to Washington, Illinois to attend his funeral. We didn't make it in time for the visitation, but they had the casket set out prior to the funeral Mass for attendees to view. Camden really wanted to see it, so I took him over. He seemed concerned about the body being visible (he asked if it could be closed up) but wanted to look at it a few times. He also learned about cemeteries and life after death. It never really occurred to me that he never realized what cemeteries were, but I guess we've never explained it! I think it was overall a good experience learning how our life ends when we're old and our soul joins our loved ones in heaven while our body remains here on earth to be buried. Coincidentally, our new nephew, Jude, was born the night before the funeral which was a great example of the "circle of life".

I didn't take any photos of us all dressed up. These are of the hotel pool we swam in when we arrived to burn off energy
