Star Wars

I'd be missing a big chunk of our daily lives if I didn't mention Camden's obsession with Star Wars. Historically, he gets REALLY into things (Toy Story/Buzz Lightyear for a year or two  and pirates for the next two). For about the past six months, he has been talking non-stop about Star Wars. The funny thing is, he has never seen any of the movies! We briefly watched a cartoon on Netflix, but I thought it was too violent. His Star Wars knowledge comes solely from us reading books from the library and his personal collection. He often "reads" through several before going to sleep. He memorizes the names of the characters and various ships. He just learned about Dart Vader being Luke's father (from this book we really like), but he was more interested in Luke's hand being cut off in the same scene. I knew nothing about Star Wars, but have learned a lot recently (and, frankly, I could use a little break, ha!). Savannah is also knowledgeable in the characters and ships (she claims her favorite are Princess Leia, Jar Jar Binks, and Yoda). Camden says he'll "love Star Wars 'till I die!".

One of his favorite things is to build Star Wars ships out of legos. He probably has eight little sets of about 120 pieces each that he can build mostly independently. Then he takes them apart and rebuilds them as new, one-of-a-kind ships.  I'm constantly trying to think of ways to store, organize, and not lose all these tiny pieces! I'm glad he's found a nice hobby (and it sure beats the "weapons" and "making a giant mess pile" hobbies). Right before Christmas, he and I put together all of his little lego sets so the pieces would be in the right places and, I must admit, it was quite relaxing and fun!

Also, he just walked in while I was writing this and told me he loves Star Wars "two-thousand and one four". I guess that's a lot!

I can rarely get Camden to sit down to color or draw anything. This is a family portrait he drew, including several Star Wars ships (which is actually a good representation of our lives)

building Legos (not specifically Star Wars in this case)

playing Star Wars and building Star Wars ships during "nap"

I made him this little tray for Christmas so he could build Legos around the house

playing Star Wars with a Star Wars shirt and underwear (undies not pictured)

reading the Star Wars book before bed. Savannah likes it, too, and she asks a million questions
