Outer Banks: stop over in Pipestem, West Virginia

To split up the long drive home, we decided to stop at Pipestem Resort State Park in West Virginia for two nights.  We ended up only staying on night since I started having contractions (too much sun and car rides for this girl!) and was advised to be close to an appropriate hospital just in case.  The middle of the Appalachian mountains was NOT an ideal place to have a pregnancy issue at 30 weeks! We did enjoy the break from driving and the beautiful scenery.

Thankfully, we were able to squish in the activities I really wanted to do (minus the boating and hiking) the one evening we were there.

We stayed in an outdated but cozy cottage where we were able to grill out our dinner and enjoy the sunset over the mountains.

The resort has an aerial tramway that takes you down the mountains over the river.  It was really unique!  At the bottom of the mountain, we played near the river for a little bit before riding the tram back up.  We saw several deer that just walked around the grounds!

a little nervous at first!

Camden tried his first s'more which we cooked in our wood burning fireplace.  He said "it's delicious!" (apparently he knows the word delicious) but only ate a couple bites since I think he couldn't figure out how to eat something so messy and sticky.

The scenery is beautiful there. I'm glad you got to enjoy it briefly.
