I really wanted to check out Corolla along the outer banks while we were staying in Duck. We went with Ryan and Nichole in their rental SUV since we heard the terrain was very hard on vehicles. Boy was that true!
We went to the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. It was $7 to climb to the top and none of us felt up to it, so we just walked around for a little bit
The road to Corolla turns into a beach without any pavement...it was so weird to come across! You can only drive along the beach in a 4-wheel drive vehicle, and even then there were a few times where we thought we might get stuck!

The main reason I wanted to go to Corolla was to see the wild horses that inhabit the area. Unfortunately, we did not see any horses although we did see their tracks. We even tried to follow a tour group in Jeeps...but they caught on to us and asked us to turn around.
We explored the dunes looking for horses in the distance.
