Wednesday, January 23: We arrived late Tuesday night and spent the night at Lance's Mom's house. Tess' house is gorgeous and she provided us with more amenities than an upscale hotel! We drove out to Lake Berryessa, visited Rebecca's work, and saw downtown Sacramento. Tess and Rick took everyone out for dinner at Bistro and we stuffed ourselves.
Thursday, January 24: We woke up and discovered that Tess had rented a limo for our day trip to Napa Valley. We had a blast driving around the various winery's including Mumm's, . It was a bit rainy, but we still had a great time and drank A LOT of free wine and champagne.
Friday, January 25: We got up a little earlier today and started driving west. First, we visited a friend of Chris' in Silicon Valley. We got to see the Google campus. Then we were off to the Winchester Mystery House. This house was built by the widow of the Winchester Rifle owner. She felt compelled by spirits to never stop building this giant home. There were doors that opened to walls, stairs to nowhere, and a secret s room, to mention a few oddities. After we toured the house, we were off to San Francisco. It was pouring rain, so we only stopped for a moment to take some photos of the Golden Gate Bridge. Then it was back to Davis to hang out at Rebecca and Lances apartment.
Saturday, January 26: We got up early again and drove to the BART station where we caught a train to San Francisco. We walked a long distance around the city checking out the sites. We eventually made it to our tour of Alcatraz Island which used to be home to some of the most dangerous criminals. It was a eerie place and definitely a must see location. We got back to the mainland and rode the cable car to get some dinner and ice cream. We visited Castro station area and ended the evening by taking a long ride to the beach. Since it started raining again and it was late, we headed back to Tess' for the night.
Northern California is beautiful and a fantastic place to visit. We have so much more we want to see next time we visit Rebecca and Lance!
