13th anniversary

Last year, on our anniversary, we went to Florida for a couple nights and it was sooo nice. This year was a bit different, but we made the best of it.

On our anniversary, I was making dinner as usual but decided to see if the kids would want to help me make the setting "fancy". They added a table cloth, napkins, placemats, candles, and music. They ate at the island bar while we ate at the fancy table. I was hoping they'd quietly eat their dinner, but it was pretty much like a normal dinner.  After dinner, we looked through our wedding album and scrapbook and told them about our wedding day. That's something I think we want to do every year. We couldn't seem to find our wedding DVDs (another thing missing after our hectic move) so we'll be on the lookout for those. Then the kids and Chris made ice cream sundays for everyone.

My mom watched the kids for a date night that Friday. Back in March, we had planned to go to Homestretch Steakhouse in Anderson at the casino/horse race track because I had found a way we could get a $100 meal credit for free (feel free to ask me about my interest in credit card points/churning). With Covid, that got postponed. I looked into doing it again, but the restaurant did not have outdoor seating and we have not been eating indoors. They did, however, let us place a to-go order and take all the food out to the patio area right by the track. So, we ordered steaks and sides, brought our own dishes/knives/forks/napkins and sat outside and ate our $100 meal! Were we the only ones doing this? Yep! Did it feel good to get out, do something different, and eat fancy food? You bet!

Let's hope year 13 is luckier than the year 2020 has been!
