Christmastime in Indianapolis

Two years ago we spent the night downtown with Camden prior to Christmas and we decided to try it again this year. My brother and his family joined us this time.

We started our adventure at the Indiana State Museum. My other brother Ryan and his wife Nichole joined us, too.  We visited Santa (short line and take-your-own-photos), rode the Christmas train, played in Santa's workshop, learned about prohibition, and ate lunch.

We then got an early check-in to our hotel at the Hyatt Regency. While the kids napped, the adults engaged in an exciting puzzle in the hallway (our rooms were at the end of the hall, so we set up a little station).

We then walked to Circle Center Mall via the connected walkway to explore.  We spent most of our time pretending to play games at the arcade. Then we ate dinner in the food court. Following dinner, we headed back to the hotel to swim. Adam and Cece were the only ones brave enough to get into the pool, but we all enjoyed the hot tub for a little bit.

Since the weather was surprisingly warm, we dressed the kids in their pajamas and walked to Monument Circle to see the giant tree (the kids had never seen it before).  We also walked around downtown for a bit enjoying the sites.

After the kids were in bed, Chris and Adam walked to a liquor store for some beer and also picked up some ice cream from the mall for us to enjoy while we worked on our puzzle.  Our big set up in the hall turned out to be a fire hazard, so the puzzle remained unfinished.

The next morning, we played in the lobby for a little bit before heading to the Children's Museum.

After the museum, we all headed home to prepare for Christmas Eve Mass. We had a great time exploring Christmas in our own city and may make it a new tradition!
