to hot for Chesterfield (7-19-06)

After we got up, had class on the lawn, and moved out of the dorms, we were off to Chesterfield for the day. I?m pretty sure today was the hottest day in the history of England, so I spent most of the time on a bench in the shade. We ate lunch at a pub and caught a train back to London. It wasn?t all that exciting today, but I think we are all getting pretty worn out. Tomorrow, Teresa and I are meeting up with Matt in Dublin, Ireland. Hopefully this weekend trip will be more relaxing than the last few. I hope you are all staying cool back in the States!

British word of the day:
Loo ? meaning toilet. I guess it comes from the word ?gardyloo? (originally the French phrase regardez l'eau) which was yelled out the window before one would drop their waste onto the streets. France and England had some pretty nasty sewage problems back in the day. Example: ?I need to use the loo?. ?Loo? may also be interchanged with ?toilet? but NOT ?restroom? or ?bathroom?. You are certainly not there to bathe or rest, so forget using those completely inappropriate words.
