Alaska Cruise - Victoria, British Columbia

Our final stop, was Victoria, British Columbia. This port had unusual port hours from 5:30pm-9pm. We decided the one excursion we wanted to do was whale watching. Victoria is known for orca whales in particular. We boarded Orca Spirit Adventures and road about 45 minutes out from the city. Then, we were all instructed to look for whale spouts and fins and notify the staff if we saw one. After a few minutes I spotted one a ways out and our boat notified the other boats and we all approached the whales. There are many restrictions on how far boats must stay from whales. It ended up being a pod of orcas on a hunt. We even saw one with what looked like a seal in it's mouth! We watched them for about an hour before heading back. Most of these orca photos are from the on-board photographer who shared his photos a few days later.
