To wrap up Camden's first grade year, his class did a project on animals. His group was "chipmunk"(the first thing he learned is that it is "chipmunk" and not "chickmunk"). They researched and made a diagram, report, book, and habitat. Then, family members came to school to learn about the various animals from each group and noted when kids did a good job speaking and explaining.
To follow up the project, the kids took a field trip to the Indianapolis Zoo. I chaperoned a group of 4 boys around the zoo. They enjoyed the dolphin show the most and tried their hardest to pet a shark. It was a nice day (and a very noisy bus ride). It was a fun way to end the school year!
