visiting the E.D. (7-12-06)

Today our class was taking a trip to the Nightingale house and grave and also Stonehenge. As of last night I have been feeling ill, so my teacher advised me not to go and possibly see a doctor. One very interesting thing about England is that their hospitals are run by the National Health Service and everyone (even those without insurance) can see a doctor for free. So, as advised, I went to St. Mary?s Hospital to get checked out. It was easy because they didn?t ask a billion insurance questions like they do at U.S. hospitals. I am supposed to be learning about England?s health system, and what better way to learn than to become a patient myself? The doctor told me I might have food poisoning or an infection which could be fixed with antibiotics if it doesn?t clear up. So with that information I headed back to Nutford to relax while everyone else is trekking around really old rocks.

I will not be updating my journal for a few days because Teresa and I are planning a trip to Scotland that is to be most time efficient. We are leaving Thursday night by coach at 11 p.m. and arriving in Scotland at 7ish in the morning. We are leaving Scotland to head back to London at 10 p.m. that night. It will be a lot of time in a coach, and we may regret this decision later. It was the cheapest and most efficient way of us seeing Scotland while still having time to hang out here in London this weekend. Happy weekend!
