Eakman Cruise - New York (day 2)

On the day before our cruise departure, we visited The Statue of Liberty and the 9/11 Memorial Museum in Manhattan. We started by taking a ferry from Jersey City to the Statue of Liberty. Once there, we had special tickets to climb all the way to the top of the crown! Not all of us were old enough/wanted to, but it was A LOT of winding stairs and our thighs hurt for days! We were all surprised by how small the crown area actually was inside. The ten of us barely fit.

After time at the Statue, we took the ferry over to Manhattan's Battery Park and walked to the 9/11 Memorial Museum. It is very well done and informative and the kids did ok being quiet inside. We also viewed the memorial pools outside and the Survivor Tree which we read about before going.

We took the subway back to New Jersey to prep for our cruise the next day.

on the way up, you could see the inside of the Statue's face! This is her eye.

Survivor Tree - worth reading about!
