School ended last year on a bizarre note and is starting back up just as crazy! We had the option to choose virtual school or in person school. I asked the kids what they would prefer and they both said in-person (Savannah was sooooo nervous last year, I was surprised she wanted to go in-person). Another big factor was that we just moved right behind the school playground where Camden's grade would be playing at recess each day. I think it would be really hard to keep the kids at home when their friends are right outside. I was hoping the school would go hybrid (it was something they talked about) or virtual, but it hasn't happened yet. We have the option to change our minds in mid-October, so we'll be thinking about that as we go.
We didn't get teacher assignments until 3 days before school. There was no back to school night. Masks, sanitizers, and water bottles were the only back-to-school items needed. While it is a very strange start to the year, we are getting used to this sort of routine now. A few days before school we practiced getting up, dressed, fed and out the door for the 5 minute walk to the front of the building. On the last day of practice, we found out they moved the "walker/biker" meet up from the front to the back playground...right behind our yard! We plan to leave our house about 5 minutes before school starts!
Hoping for a safe school year and we're planning to be flexible for anything that may come our way!
