Homeschool Hybrid - 1 quarter in!

I thought I'd write a little update about our homeschool hybrid experience this far since we just completed our first quarter. Camden is homeschooled by me (or my mom on days I go to work) Monday through Wednesday following a pacing guide set by his teacher. On Thursday and Friday he attends school at the Learning Center.
His classes are:
-Math
-Language Skills
-Literature and Comprehension
-Phonics
-Handwriting (his least favorite)
-Science (fun!)
-History (fun!)
-Social Studies (partial year, learning center only)
-Music (his chosen elective, optional)
-PE (basically run around or anything physical)

I turned the built in desk area in our kitchen into our school station where the computer and office supplies are stored. There is also a white board where I write all of the lessons for the day. We store all of his books (there are a lot!) in another room. We usually start around 8:30 and work straight until we are done or until lunch (with breaks to take and pick up Savannah from preschool on Monday/Wednesday) usually sitting at the kitchen table or on the couch. He also has a mandatory Class Connect every day where he logs in and has an interactive class with his teacher and other students.

a bit haphazard, but this is where the books are stored

I could talk for a long time about the things I like and dislike about the program (so feel free to ask!), but I'll probably wait until the end of the year to sum it all up. So far I'm really liking working with Camden at home on his lessons. They are pretty fun, quick moving, and interactive. They involve books, work books, activities, online activities, manipulatives, and conversation. I'm very impressed with the curriculum so far although there are a few things that seem a little too easy for Kindergarten (I imagine that will change as the year goes on). The school itself is facing many challenges being a non-traditional public school catering to a wide variety of student situations, so that is unfortunate.

Here are some of our first quarter photos! You'll notice the computer in every photo. It guides us initially as to what we are suppose to do, even for an entirely offline lesson so we always have it up and running. Also, Savannah is in a lot of the photos. She pretty much joins in during craft and more hands-on projects. I just print an extra copy for her to do, too.
