Phantom in Leicester Square (7-24-06)

This morning we started our day with a class trip to Parliament. We were able to take a tour of the places where legislation is made. We saw where the Queen comes to give her speech and where Tony Blair and the other political people debate. After class, Teresa and I went back to look around Westminster Abbey.

The theatre district is around the area of Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus. This area is where tons of locals and visitors meet to eat, see shows, and relax in the grass. Some call it the Times Square of London and it does have a similar atmosphere. We were able to purchase some last minute tickets to The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty?s Theatre. We were stuck with ?restricted view? seats which basically means there is a pole right in front of you. Despite that, the show was excellent. I love how big the theatre scene is over here in London. Too many shows and too little time!

British word of the day:
Stone ? equal to 14 pounds of weight. ?She weighs 11 stones?. I saw this written in a fashion magazine and it threw me off. I think they use it because it makes them seem lighter. If that?s what they were going for, they should have called it feathers instead.
